Everything you need to get started with learning crochet all in one place!

Last year, I started a series of posts that look at where to start when you want to learn to crochet, with each part covering a different aspect.

Image shows a pair of heart-shaped sunglasses with pink frames on a blue background. The reflection on the sunglasses shows piles of lovely yarn - one of the benefits when you learn how to crochet.

So far, some of the areas I’ve looked at have included yarn, what equipment and tools you’ll need, and the basics of reading crochet patterns.

In thinking about where I could go next with this series, I decided that it would be helpful for you if I made a round-up post. There are links to each of the individual posts in this series, all in one place and they will be updated as new posts are added.

Learn to Crochet Posts & Where to Find Them.

  1. Where to Start With Crochet Part 1: the first part looks at the equipment you’ll need when you start learning how to crochet, including crochet hooks, yarn and other bits and bobs (notions). I’ve also given some suggestions of where you can go to buy what you need as well as lots of other ideas.
  2. Where to Start with Crochet Part 2: in this post, I go into more detail about yarns as the choice available is sometimes overwhelming – what they’re made of, their weight, and where you can buy them.
  3. Where to Start with Crochet Part 3: We look at how to read crochet patterns including the way stitches are abbreviated. Many people find reading crochet patterns very confusing – a bit like learning a foreign language, so this is a topic I’ll be returning to in the future. If you want to see the full list of crochet terms and abbreviations, just go to the Craft Yarn Council’s site. They are the body that sets all the standards for crochet.
  4. Crochet Basics YouTube playlist: Have a look at this playlist on my YouTube channel for lots of tutorials on crochet basics. This is the place for you whether you are learning how to crochet or know how to crochet but would like to learn some new techniques.

I hope this helps and if there are any particular areas you’d like to see covered, just let me know.
