The Crochet Flower Pattern Collection

I love making crochet flowers. They’re so cheerful and bright.

AND they don’t need water and can’t die 🥳

Trust me when I say, that is an important factor for me.

I thought that you might also like to crochet your own flowers, especially as they’re suitable for all levels of crocheters – beginners to advanced and everyone in between.

The Floral Collection contains crochet patterns for a rose, daisy, daffodil, and tulip; plus the patterns for making the leaf and the different styles of stems.

One white daisy flower laying flat in the palm of an adult hand, covering all the fingers with only the thumb and the bottom third of the hand still visible. This is made from the Delectable Daisy crochet pattern

Each pattern is available for free right here on the WoollyWondersByJo blog,

AND as a free YouTube tutorial on my YouTube channel.

AND, if you prefer, each crochet pattern is also available to buy individually as a PDF download through the WoollyWondersByJo website, Etsy, Ravelry, and Lovecrafts.

OR you can buy the whole Floral Collection as a bundle either here or on Payhip. The bundle includes all 6 PDF patterns and has a lovely discount to say thank you.

Crochet Daisy - Free Pattern

If there is anything in this world that is bound to make you smile it is the daisy. I think it’s because they remind us of Spring and Summer, lying in the grass and making daisy chains – or is that just me? 🤔

Anyhoo, the only downside to an actual daisy its is short (but glorious) lifespan. So why not make your own and have them all year round?

And even better, have them in all different sizes and colours?? 🎉

The Meaning of the Daisy

If I were to ask you what you think the meaning behind the daisy is, you’d probably say innocence! And you’d be right – innocence and purity. But it can also mean that I’ll never tell! A bit more of an ominous meaning, no?

If a daisy is your favourite flower then you are said to be friendly and caring and give off a positive vibe. You are quite the popular one.

If you prefer this pattern as an ad-free PDF, then it is available to buy here on my website, on Ravelry, Lovecrafts or Etsy.

  • 50g DK Yarn in green – for the leaves and stem
  • 3.5mm hook
  • Tapestry needle
  • Stitch markers
  • Flower stem (See ‘Simple Stem’ pattern) for details
  • Stuffing for the centre of the flower – toy stuffing or scraps of yarn

Techniques/Terminology Used (UK)

  • Magic Circle (MC)
  • Chain (CH)
  • Slip Stitch (SL ST)
  • Double crochet (DC)
  • Increasing stitches (INC)
  • Wrong side of your work (WS)
  • Right side of your work (RS)
  • ** Repeat the instructions between the ** to number of times given

Notes:

  • Easy – Confident beginner & above. This pattern includes stitches that beginners will be comfortable with but some techniques are more challenging.
  • This pattern is written in UK terms. However, there are very few stitches in the making of the daisy and the only difference for US crafters is with the UK DC which is a US SC.
  • There is a YouTube tutorial available for the Daisy on my YouTube channel with full instructions and lots of ideas for how you can personalise the daisy to suit you.
  • Tutorials for all flowers, the leaf and stem are on this YouTube playlist.
  • The patterns for the leaf and Simple Stem are in the Collection’s blog post.
  • For this pattern, you need to have the stem with the wooden dowel made before you start the flower.
  • Round 1 of The Petals is worked into the final round stitches of both the top of the stem and the flower centre at the same time, with the wrong side of the flower centre facing the inside of the top of the stem.
  • The invisible finish method is demonstrated in the video tutorial for the Daisy
  • Before finishing round 1 of The Petals add your stuffing to the centre of the flower
  • Don’t panic about the number of petals you have on the flower – as long as they are evenly spaced. If you prefer, you could even add an extra slip stitch between each petal.

Pattern – The Stem:

Using your 3.5mm hook, green yarn and a wooden dowel:

  1. Follow the pattern for the ‘Simple Stem’ to the final step but do not finish off.
  2. *DC2 in next st, DC1 in next 4 sts* repeat round (36 dc)
  3. DC in each st round (36dc)
  4. Finish off using an invisible finish as this makes joining pieces together a lot simpler.

Pattern – The Flower Centre

Use your 3.5mm hook, yellow yarn & stitch marker to mark the first stitch of each round:

  1. Make a magic circle (MC)
  2. Working into the MC, DC6 (6 dc)
  3. DC2 in each st round & place 1 stitch marker in the top of the 1st st of the round (12dc)
  4. *DC2 in next st, DC1 in next st* repeat round (18dc)
  5. *DC2 in next st, DC1 in next 2 sts* repeat round (24dc)
  6. *DC2 in next st, DC1 in next 3 sts* repeat round (30dc)
  7. *DC2 in next st, DC1 in next 4 sts* repeat round (36 dc)
  8. DC in each st round (36dc)
  9. Finish off using an invisible finish as this makes joining pieces together a lot simpler.

Pattern – The Petals

Using your 3.5mm hook and white DK yarn for the petals:

  1. Position the flower centre (RS facing out) in place with the top of your stem and hold them together while you work the first round – you can use pins or stitch markers to hold it if you prefer.
      • Using a sl st, join your yarn to both the flower centre and the top of the stem, CH1
      • DC in the same stitch as your joining sl st.
      • DC in each st round (36dc)
  2. SL ST in the 1st stitch of round 1 to start the first petal:
      • CH10, SL ST in next ST
      • CH5, SL ST in 5th ch of first ch10, CH5, SL ST in same stitch
      • CH5, SL ST in 5th ch of first ch10, CH5, SL ST in same stitch
      • CH5, SL ST in 5th ch of first ch10, CH5, SL ST in next stitch
  3. Rep step 2 around the flower back to the first petal
  4. SL ST in to same stitch as your joining sl st in round 1
  5. Finish off and sew in your ends.
And finally . . . . . .

I hope you enjoy making any and all of these crochet flowers and that you play around with different yarns, textures, and sizes.

But whatever you do, please share pics with me on social media! I absolutely love seeing what you make.
